Population pyramid are an effective means of showing the ages structures of different countries and highlighting changing trends in population growth and decline . The typical pyramid for a country with a growing ,youthful population is broad-bared ,reflecting a high birth rate and a far large number young rather than elderly people . In contract countries with populations whose number stabilising have a more balanced distribution of people in each age band and may even lower number of peoples in the youngest age range ,indicating both a high life expectancy and that the population is now barely replacing itself . The russian federation shows a marked decline in population due to a combination of a high death rate and low birth rate . The government has taken steps to reverse this trend by providing improved child support and health care . Immigration is also seen as vital to help sustain the population .
