The wealthy countries of the developed world ,with their aggressive market led economies and their access to protective new technologies and international markets dominate the world econonic system . At the other extreme many of the countries of the developing world are locked in a cycle of national debt, rising populations and unemployment . The state managed economies of the former communist bloc began to be dismantled during the 1990s and china is emerging as a major economic power following decades of isolation .
